Influenced by the watery landscape of Suffolk's saltmarshes, Peta's wading birds and bowls reflect the silvery pastel lights of the marsh shallows, her garden hares also share this surface pattern. Her work is made in grogged terracotta; this is decorated with slips, engobes and then an alkaline glaze.
Peta trained at Lowestoft College of Art and Design where she specialised in the exploration of glaze and surface quality. She received a first class Hons. in Industrial Ceramics and was awarded the Licentiate od Designer Craftsmen; graduating with a Cert. Ed. (PCE) at Anglia Polytechnic University, Chelmsford.
Peta combines making ceramics, in her workshop at home, with teaching pottery to adults with learning disabilities.
Her work can be purchased directly, at Snape Maltings Gallery (Riverside Centre, Snape, Suffolk) and at the Suffolk Craft Society and Eat Anglian Potters biannual shows.
